A get-together between Vietnamese and Russian businesses was held in Moscow on January 21 on the occasion of the New Year 2010.
Addressing the function, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Bui Dinh Dinh stated that despite the impacts of the world economic and financial crisis, in 2009, two-way trade between Vietnam and Russia reached over 1.7 billion USD, up 60 million USD over the previous year.
However, the result is yet to meet the two countries’ potentials and their strategic partnership, he said, adding that the two sides should strengthen bilateral exchanges as well as organise forums, exhibitions and market surveys.
Ambassador Dinh informed about the upcoming Russia visits by Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and State President Nguyen Minh Triet as well as President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Vietnam , saying that these important visits will help consolidate and further expand economic and trade relations between Vietnam and Russia .
He called upon Russian enterprises to increase investment and boost business activities in the potential Vietnamese market.
Representatives of Russian businesses at the meeting spoke highly of Vietnam ’s promising business market and praised the country’s socio-economic development achievements. They valued Vietnam as a reliable partner and a safe investment destination.
Nikolai Poznyakov, a representative of the Atomic Construction-Export Group Atomtroiexport affirmed after its effective cooperation in Vietnam for a certain time, the group has suggested the Vietnam Machinery Installation Corporation (Lilama) to get involved in its three projects in India./.
