Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam's agricultural products were sold well in foreign markets in Q1, with a surge in both volumeand prices documented.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), durian exports brought home 254 million USD in the first three months of the year, shooting up66% against the same time last year.

Vietnam shipped some 32,750 tonnes of the fruit worth 161 million USD to Chinaduring January – February, overtaking Thailand to become the largest exporterof the staple to the northern neighbour.

The country accounted for nearly 60% of the total market share of durian inChina, well above the 32% in 2023.

Within less than two years, Vietnamese durian made a giant stride in the market of more than 1 billion consumers, and the fruit is expected to maintain its reign in this market for along time thanks to bumper crops, competitive prices, and rapid transportation.

In the same vein, coffee has been on its heyday after more than 30 yearsreaching out to the European market. The country gained nearly 1.9 billion USDfrom exporting 800,000 tonnes, up 54.2% in value and 44.4% in quantityyear-on-year.

As coffee bean is now sold at around 4,000 USD per tonne, it is possible toachieve the set target of 5 billion USD in export revenue this year, experts havesaid.
Meanwhile,Vietnamese banana has won the taste of the Republic of Korea, China’s Hong Kong, and Japan, among others. Vietnamese fresh banana has hit the shelves of morethan 90 AEON stores in Hong Kong while the Philippines, China’s Taiwan, and Singapore were the main supplier previously.

Rice made a great contribution to Vietnam’s farm produce export growth in thethree-month period. More than 2 million tonnes were shipped abroad for 1.37billion USD, a year-on-year rise of 12% in volume and 40% in value.

Vietnam, among the world’s top three rice exporters, is pinning a high hope for riceexport this year, given its stable production and India’s export ban.

Besides, the export of Vietnamese fishery products made a breakthrough in theperiod with nearly 1.9 billion USD in revenue, up nearly 2% from the same timelast year. The items have been in the shopping list of consumers in 170countries and territories.

Japan, the US, and China are the key markets of Vietnamese fishery products.Particularly, Vietnam has surpassed its rivals such as Ecuador, India, andIndonesia in shrimp shipments to China.

Experts held that they should zone off quality cultivation area, strictlycomply with food safety and hygiene standards and quarantine requirements offastidious markets, and build brands for their products./.

Tax revenue from e-commerce surges

According to the department, 130 foreign suppliers, including Google and Facebook, have registered, declared, and paid taxes through the electronic tax portal for foreign providers, contributing a total of 2.91 trillion VND (114 million USD).

Vietnam’s coffee exports reach 1.72 billion USD in first two months

Nguyen Duc Dung, Deputy General Director of the Mercantile Exchange of Vietnam (MXV), noted that coffee prices in the global market rose sharply. As a result, Vietnam's coffee export value increased by over 37% during this period, though its export volume decreased by 22%.

Vietnam becomes Brazil’s 2nd largest aquatic product supplier

According to the Department of Customs under the Ministry of Finance, Vietnam’s aquatic product exports reached $655 million in February, marking a 44.5% year-on-year increase. This brought the total for the first two months of 2025 to $1.42 billion, up 19% compared to the same period in 2024.

HCM City bank lending growth down in 2025

Customs trade hits 1.05 billion USD on first day of new model

Realising the 12th Party Central Committee's Resolution 18 on streamlining the political system’s organisational structure, on March 15, the customs sector began operating under a three-tier model: the Department of Customs, regional customs offices, and border checkpoints. This reorganisation has reduced the number of units by 485, or 53.77%, from 902
