Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s first scientific journal, namely Advances in Natural Sciences: Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, has been listed in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) database of Thomson Reuters (UK).

Professor Nguyen Van Hieu from the journal’s educational council said the journal was internationally recognised in 2016, four years earlier than the target set by the Prime Minister under the national physics development programme through to 2020.

Thomson Reuters is an organisation with very exacting standards. As compared to other scientific journals listed in SCIE which are 20-year-old, the achievement progress of the Vietnamese journal has been relatively quick, he said.

He noted that the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology started to build and follow international criteria seven years ago.

The journal’s editorial council wrote and selected high-quality reports that satisfied the common regulations of international journals.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Thi Bich Ha said the editorial council and secretariat included prestigious scientists who held biennial periodical meetings, as well as directly wrote journal articles and invited counterparts to give comments.

She said there is still a lot of things to do to maintain the international status and to reach new achievements.-VNA
