Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on November 2 told Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that her visit is an important milestone in the development of the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
Meeting with the visiting Bangladeshi PM in Hanoi , Trong thanked Sheikh Hasina and Bangladeshi people for their warm sentiment and supports for Vietnam during its revolution for national independence in the past as well as the present national renewal and construction cause.
Applauding the achievements that Bangladesh has gained, the Party leader affirmed that the Party and Government of Vietnam always attach importance to strengthening the relationship with the country.
He agreed with the guest to further promote the cooperation between the two countries in all fields and through all channels in the future.
Sheikh Hasina briefed his host on the outcomes of her talks with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and affirmed Bangladesh ’s determination to foster cooperation with Vietnam in economics, trade, agriculture, culture and national defecnce.
She expressed her hope that the two sides will step up exchanges between the two parliaments, businesses and peoples, as well as further strengthen coordination at regional and international forums.
The same day, President Truong Tan Sang also received the visiting Bangladeshi Prime Minister, expressing the belief that the visit will lift bilateral ties to a new high.
Sang said he hopes Bangladesh will soon become a member of the ASEM.
He affirmed that Vietnam is willing to share its experience in the development and integration progress with Bangladesh .
Sang took the occasion to send his invitation to visit Vietnam to the Bangladeshi President.
In reply, Sheikh Hasina expressed her pleasure to visit Vietnam , emphasising that Bangladeshi people always give Vietnam a special position in their hearts.
She said she is impressed by the achievements that Vietnam has gained during its cause of national construction, adding that she hopes the two sides will broaden cooperation in all socio-economic fields, including food security.
