The Vietnamese Embassy in Russia hosted a reception on August 26 to celebrate the 69th anniversary of National Day (September 2).
The event welcomed Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Vladimirovich Morgulov and First Vice President of the Russian State Duma Ivan Ivanovich Menikov, along with representatives of diplomatic agencies of Russia and other countries, as well as international organisations.
In his speech, Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Xuan Son highlighted the great significance of this event, affirming that under the leadership of its Communist Party along with international support, including from Russia, Vietnam had achieved numerous successes in national defence, construction and development in the last decades.
Vietnam-Russia relations have developed consistently since the two countries established diplomatic ties 65 years ago, Son said, noting that the bilateral ties were upgraded into a comprehensive strategic partnership during President Truong Tan Sang’s official visit to Russia in July 2012.
He stated that Vietnam will neither forget the enormous support and assistance provided by the Russian people during Vietnam’s historical revolutionary struggles, nor their current contributions to nation building and development, thus assuring that Vietnam has always regarded Russia as one of its leading strategic partners in the world.
Offering his congratulations to the Vietnamese Government on this occasion, Russian Deputy FM Morgulov once again conveyed Russian sentiments of friendship to Vietnam.
He expressed his hope that efforts will be made to further strengthen the bilateral ties between his country and Vietnam in the future.-VNA
