Vietnam's pepper exports surge 40.8% in 7 months

Vietnam's pepper export earnings surged 40.8 percent year-on-year to 764 million U.S. dollars in the first seven months of this year, according to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association.

As of July 30, Vietnam exported over 164,300 tonnes of various types of pepper.

The association forecasts that pepper exports this year will reach over 1 billion USD. The rise in Vietnam's pepper exports is due to the scarcity of global pepper supply.

The US is the largest export market for Vietnamese pepper, followed by Germany, the UAE, India and China.

Key pepper-growing areas of Vietnam include three Central Highlands provinces, namely Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Dak Nong and three Southeast provinces, namely Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau./.
