
PhnomPenh (VNA) – Members of Vietnam’s U22 football team arrived atCambodia’s Phnom Penh capital on February 15 to prepare for their conquer ofthe trophy of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U22 Youth Championship.
The regional football tourney is scheduled totake place from February 17-26.
Vietnam announced the 23-member squad for thetournament on February 14 evening. Hong Linh Ha Tinh football club contributesmost players with six, followed by Hoang Anh Gia Lai club with five.
The teams are divided into two groups and will play in theround-robin format. Twobest teams of each group will advance to the semi-finals. All the matches willtake place at the Phnom Penh National Olympic Stadium.
In Group A, Vietnam will face the Philippineson February 17, Timor Leste on February 19 and Thailand two days later.
Group B includes Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmarand Cambodia.
Speakingwith reporters, head coach Nguyen Quoc Tuan said his team would reach thefinal.
