By the end of May, Vietnam's major export markets maintained impressive growth, with six markets increasing by 1 billion USD or more compared to the first five months of 2023, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
Vietnam’s export turnover in the first half of this year expanded by 13.8% year-on-year to an estimated 188.97 billion USD, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT)’s Planning and Finance Department has reported.
Malaysian durian traders are concerned about logistical complications when it comes to exporting fresh durian to China, given the fruit’s short shelf-life of three days, as planters in Malaysia customarily wait for durians to fully ripen before harvesting.
Vietnam shipped an estimated 3.6 billion USD worth of fishery products abroad during January-May, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%.
The Malaysian economy is projected to grow between 4 and 5%, supported by export recovery and resilient domestic demand, according to Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.
The total export-import turnover in the first five months of this year reached 305.53 billion USD, marking a 16.6% year-on-year increase. Exports and imports saw rises of 15.2% and 18.2%, respectively.
