Vinafood 2 to export rice to Bangladesh

The Vietnam Southern Food Corporation (Vinafood 2) has signed a contract to export 100,000 tonnes of 15 percent broken rice to Bangladesh at the price of 389 USD per tonne.

At present, Bangladesh is seen as a potential growing market for Vietnamwith a recent import of 178,000 tonnes of rice. As a competitivesupplier, in the near future Vietnam will negotiate with Bangladeshabout the export of another 200,000 tonnes of rice to this South Asiancountry.

The Vietnam Food Association has asked theMinistry of Industry and Trade to consider Bangladesh as a centralmarket and Vinafood 2 will act as an export source./.

Vietnam has about 1.2 million hectares of fruit-growing areas, producing around 13 million tonnes a year. Its fruits are exported to more than 60 countries, including major markets such as the US, the EU, Japan, the Republic of Korea and China.
