The Ministry of Information and Communications has officially approved adding the digit "1" to the "091" and "094" prefixes for VinaPhone, the third largest mobile operator in Vietnam.
The ministry's decision was announced on February 5, allowing VinaPhone to have access to two million 10-digit mobile phone numbers.
With seven mobile phone prefixes, the operator currently has a total of 58 million phone numbers.
The ministry's allocation is part of its plan to transform telecom numbers, which require 11-digit mobile phone numbers into numbers with 10 digits.
