A delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) took part in the 19 th International Seminar of Communist Parties, themed “the consequences of the crisis and the intervention of communist parties”, in Brussels from May 14-16.

Representatives from 45 communist parties throughout the world analysed and assessed the structural and institutional nature of the crisis in the whole system of capitalism, saying that the crisis will continue with the spreading of Greece ’s public debt crisis to many other countries.

The seminar affirmed Marxism-Leninism’s vitality in the current circumstance and indicated that capitalism’s basic contradictions are becoming more severe in the process of development.

The seminar adopted a joint statement entitled “Communist parties and the capitalism’s more serious systematic crisis” which affirms that the current crisis is the most serious since the 1929-1933 crisis and this is also an opportunity for the world revolutionary movement and communist parties.

Based on the results of the seminar and the current situation of communist parties, the delegates agreed that the next seminar in 2011 will discuss party building.

The participants spoke highly of the Vietnamese delegation’s contributions to the success of the seminar, affirming that Vietnam ’s socio-economic development achievements under the leadership of the CPV over the past 25 years of renovation are an encouragement to the struggling movement of communist parties and workers in many countries.

During the stay in Belgium , the Vietnamese delegation exchanged views with the Workers Party of Belgium and other delegations to the seminar./.
