VN company plants rubber trees in northern Laos

The MoU was agreed to by the company’s General Director Nguyen Hong Thang and Lao Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Bounthavy Sisouphanthong, in Vientiane on May 25.

Covering an area of 1,000 hectares, this is Vietnam ’s first rubber planting project in Northern Laos , Thang said.

The project is expected to contribute to changing farming methods, creating stable jobs for local people and promoting cooperation between Vietnam and Laos and Dien Bien Phu and Udomsay in particular, he said.

On behalf of the Lao Government, Bounthavy Sisouphanthong praised the company as the first Vietnamese business to grow rubber trees in Northern Laos , despite a range of difficulties, especially in infrastructure.

He pledged that the Lao Government will create favourable conditions for the company to ensure the project’s progress, contributing to consolidating the friendship and special solidarity between the two countries.-VNA
