VN, Malaysia work together on communications

Vietnam and Malaysia have agreed to step up exchanges of information, management expertise and cooperate to train up human resources in the information and communications sector.
Vietnam and Malaysia have agreed to step up exchanges ofinformation, management expertise and cooperate to train up humanresources in the information and communications sector.

The agreement was reached at a meeting between Vietnam ’s Minister ofInformation and Communications Le Doan Hop and Malaysian DeputyMinister of Information, Communications and Culture Soseph Salang, inKuala Lumpur on July 15.

At themeeting, Hop said that Vietnam wants to share information as well aslearn from Malaysia ’s experiences in managing online games andpre-paid mobile phone packages as well as discuss the use of a commontelecoms infrastructure.

Vietnam intends tobecome strong in information technology (IT), said Hop while praisingthe investments that Malaysian IT and telecoms businesses have injectedinto in Vietnam .

Hop also informed Salang ofthe six main goals that Vietnam wants to reach in the IT sector,including developing its human resources, software, IT infrastructure,e-government and especially encouraging strong communication groups.

Salang expressed the hope both ministries willincrease sharing their experiences of state management, encourage andcreate better conditions for businesses from both countries to meet andseek out cooperative opportunities in the production oftelecommunications equipment and the provision of telecoms services.

In the past Vietnam has sent numerous officials toMalaysia to learn about developing public services, IT, software andinformation security. The country also provides Vietnam with severaltelecoms and IT scholarships each year./.
