Vietnam News Agency (VNA), the country’s official news agency, signed an agreement on information cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City on October 20 under which it will disseminate information related to all aspects of life in the city.
In addition to the political, cultural and social accomplishments, it will also highlight the city’s economic potential and investment opportunities.
The news agency will analyse the city’s solutions to emerging issues for other localities to study and possibly use.
One important aspect of the collaboration will be that VNA will work to keep wrong and untruthful information out of the public sphere. City authorities will invite its reporters to find the truth and repudiate inaccurate reports that find their way into the media.
It needs no reiteration that the agency will strive to be accurate and objective.
In return, HCM City will create favourable conditions for VNA’s correspondents, including accrediting them to most city meetings, and provide information to the agency.
VNA will begin by focusing on the 40th Liberation Day on April 30 next year and the city’s six key economic programmes on upgrading human resources, supporting the change in the economic mechanism, changing the growth model, administrative reform, improving traffic flows, and anti-flooding and environmental protection.
Every two years the two partners will jointly review the cooperation.
VNA has offices in all 63 provinces and cities along with 30 others in 28 countries.-VNA
