The provincial fisheries sector has strictly supervised vessels operating in fishing grounds, ensuring that 100% of vessels are updated on the national VNFishbase database and 100% are equipped with VMS tracking devices as required.
The province will ensure that vessels which do not meet standards are prevented from going offshore. This initiative is part of urgent efforts by coastal localities to help Vietnam address the European Commission’s “yellow card” warning.
Since 2019, there have been no Phu Yen fishing vessels being detained or penalised for illegal fishing in foreign waters. VMS monitoring of offshore fishing activities has been carried out consistently and effectively.
To date, Quang Ngai has 5,194 registered fishing vessels, with data regularly updated in the National Fisheries Database (VNFishbase).
