A workshop on Vietnam ’s business opportunities was held in Mexico ’s northern city of Monterrey , Nuevo Leon state, with the participation of 150 Mexican small and medium-sized enterprises.
The event was organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico in partnership with the Ministry of Economic Development of Nuevo Leon state.
Opening the workshop, Vietnamese Ambassador Le Thanh Tung spoke highly of the Mexican side’s cooperation in organising the event and made a brief presentation on Vietnam ’s major economic achievements as well as the country’s foreign policy.
Vietnamese Trade Counsellor Hoang Anh Dung introduced Vietnam ’s trade relations with foreign countries, including Mexico , and the foreign direct investment flow into the Southeast Asian country.
Nuevo Leon state’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Investment and International Trade Andres Franco Abascal praised Vietnam ’s economic performance and hoped that the workshop would help to strengthen bilateral trade relations and that cooperation between the two countries would expand to new areas.
At the workshop, Mexican businesspeople raised questions regarding Vietnam ’s situation in different fields.
In 2010, two-way trade between Vietnam and Mexico reached 835 million USD, of which 43.5 million USD came from trade revenues between Vietnam and Nuevo Leon state./.
