VOV-developed apps give online health consultations

The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) on September 28 launched new smartphone and computer applications to give online health care services, with the aim of improving the health care quality for the community.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) on September 28launched new smartphone and computer applications to give online health careservices, with the aim of improving the health care quality for the community.

Introduced in Vietnam for the first time, the VOV-Doctor24 andVOV-Bacsi24 via video calls allow users to register for health consultationservices with doctors across the country at any time.

Developed by the VOV FM89, the radio channel for health and food safety,the apps are compatible with IOS, Android and Windows users, with free 3G and4G services support and high security. Users can also save conversations withdoctors for re-listening.

Addressing the launching ceremony, VOV General Director Nguyen The Kysaid that the apps are expected to help those in need of health consultationsto connect with physicians amidst the overload situation in hospitals.

He also expressed his hope to receive feedback from users for timelyimprovement.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien lauded the introductionof the apps, saying that they will help save time and efforts of patients,especially those in remote areas, while easing overloads in hospitals.

She pledged to cooperate with the VOV to run the apps, especially inbuilding lists of doctors and hospitals involving in the service.-VNA

WHO donates 9,000 rabies vaccine doses to Vietnam’s high-risk provinces

The post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) vaccines, valued at 100,000 USD, were delivered to the Centres for Disease Control (CDC) in the two provinces through coordination with the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE), the Ministry of Health, and local authorities. The donation was made possible with financial support from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.

Facing the World to host ENT surgery conference in Hanoi

To be held at 108 Military Central Hospital and Hong Ngoc General Hospital on October 18-19 respectively, the conference “Facing the functional, oncological and aesthetic challenges within the head and neck” will be attended by British and Vietnamese doctors specialising in ENT (ear, nose and throat) and head-neck surgery, plastic and aesthetic surgery, oncology and maxillofacial surgery.
