He took the occasion to ask theWB to give Vietnam a transitional period after the up-coming end of thebank’s International Development Association-17 (IDA-17) programme forpoor and under-developed countries.
HailingVietnam’s development achievements, Amsberg said that the WB is studyingnew initiatives to support the nation’s development in the time tocome.
The WB considers Vietnam a typical examplein using its loans efficiently, which makes it easier for the bank topersuade donors to contribute more for its development assistanceprogrammes.
Preferential conditions of loans inthe post-IDA-17 period are expected to be lower, but forthcomingnegotiations between the WB and Vietnam will be conducted in the spiritof boosting Vietnam’s development, he stated.-VNA
