The photo titled “Sac mau que huong” (Colour of Homeland) by Vu Ngoc Hoang won the first prize at the award ceremony of the photo contest “Tan huong ban sac Viet” (Savour Vietnam) on June 19 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Jointly organised by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper and Saigontourist, a travel firm, “Savour Vietnam” aims to honour the beauty of Vietnam’s landscape and culture as well as its history and people.
The competition, which opened in July last year, receives more than 7,100 photos from both local and overseas photographers, depicting the nature and landscapes, folk festivals and rituals, handicraft villages, and people from across the country.
During the ceremony, the organisers also presented two second prizes and three third prizes to authors of the most outstanding submissions.
The organizers published a book namely “Tan huong ban sac Viet” in Vietnamese and English languages, putting together most outstanding photos from the contest.
According to CEO of Saigontourist Tran Hung Viet, the book will serve as one of the firm’s main give-away publications to its international partners and clients.
Outstanding photos are exhibited at a number of luxurious hotels in Ho Chi Minh City, including Rex, Majestic, Caravelle, Continental, Pullman Saigon Centre and Novotel Sai Gon Centre through August 3.-VNA
