Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam is in GroupB which also sees Tajikistan, Maldives, Afghanistan following a draw for the AFC Women’sAsian Cup 2022 Qualifers in Kuala Lumpur on June 24.

The Vietnamese women’s team, the top-seeded in the group, is now placed 33rd in the latest FIFA rankings.Meanwhile, Tajikistan ranks 135th, Maldives 144th andAfghanistan 152nd.

Twenty-eight teams aredivided into eight groups with four seed groups.

Champions Japan, secondrunners-up Australia and third runners-up China together with the hosts India areeligible for the final round.

The tournament is scheduledto take place in India from January 20 to February 6./.

Vietnam's 22-match unbeaten run draws praise from RoK media

Under the tournament format, the semifinals and final will be played over two legs. Vietnam will travel to Malaysia for the first leg on August 16 before hosting the second leg on August 19. Should Vietnam overcome Malaysia, they will meet the winner of the other semifinal between Thailand and Singapore in the final.
