Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s exports of wood and timber products in the first quarter of this year reached 2.3 billion USD, up 15.6 percent year-on-year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported.
Wood and timber products posted a trade surplus of 1.02 billion USD, the highest among agro-forestry-fishery exports in the period.
In March alone, Vietnam earned 872 million USD from wood and timber products.
The US, Japan, China and the Republic of Korea (RoK) maintained their position as Vietnam’s major wood importers, making up a combined 79 percent of total revenue.
During the first three months, export value of wood and wooden products to the US rose 34 percent, Japan 7.6 percent and the RoK 0.5 percent.-VNA
