Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has joined various organisations in observing World Car Free Day.
Leading members of public and private agencies, including the BMA, the Pollution Control Department, Metropolitan Police Bureau, the Traffic Police Division and Central Group, gathered in the grounds of Central World shopping mall in Pathumwan district to support Bangkok Car Free Day 2018.
Ambassador of Hungary to Thailand, Szilveszter Bus, and diplomats from the Embassy of Indonesia also took part in the event.
The event featured a five-kilometre cycling activity aimed at raising public awareness of environmental problems in the capital city and campaigning for efficient public transport systems as well as reduced dependence on private automobiles.
Bangkok is among over 2,000 cities across the globe that participate in the international event. World Car Free Day is celebrated on 22nd September annually.-NNT/VNA
