Twelve-year-old Phuong My Chi has won 1 billion VND (47,500 USD) for her performance in Bai Hat Yeu Thich (Favourite Song), a music programme broadcast by Vietnam Television.

The song, entitled Que Em Mua Nuoc Lu (My Homeland in Flood Season), composed by Tien Luan, was named the Song of the Year at the award ceremony held on January 4 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Chi was the second runner-up in The Voice Kids singing competition last year. Despite her age, she is famous and loved for her romantic folk songs.

The live shows of Bai Hat Yeu Thich , which were introduced as a music chart for newly composed Vietnamese songs, are aired on the first Sunday of every month.

Sixty percent of the charts results are based on the judgement of a voting council comprising 120 music experts, while the rest 40 percent is based on SMS votes and view counts for the songs on the official website of the programme.

These results form the monthly chart (only SMS votes and view counts are counted for the weekly chart). Each month, new songs are introduced, while the songs from the previous months are still available for voting. This continues till the end of the year, when a yearly chart is prepared.
