The Secretary of the Party Committee of China’s Zhejiang province, Zhao Hongzhu, sought increases in a wide-range of cooperation with Vietnam in his meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
The meeting with visiting PM Dung took place in Hangzhou , the provincial capital of Zhejiang , on April 27. Zhao described PM Dung’s visit as an important event in the relationship between Zhejiang and Vietnam .
He said the visit reflects Vietnam ’s interest in strengthening its comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China in general and with Zhejiang province in particular.
PM Dung told the Chinese official that his visit aims to further Vietnam ’s friendship and mutually-beneficial cooperation with China ’s Huadong key economic zone in which Zhejiang province plays an important role.
He emphasised that at the moment, the friendship between Vietnam and China is growing robustly.
Over the past 30 years, Zhejiang province has posted an annual growth rate of 13 percent on average.
In 2009, the locality’s GDP grew at 8.9 percent to 335.7 billion USD, standing fourth after Guangdong , Jiangsu , and Shandong .
As scheduled, PM Dung will attend the Vietnam-China Economic-Trade Cooperation Forum in Zhejiang on April 28.
