Bangladeshi President Mohammed Shahabuddin has expressed his hope for stronger multi-sectoral cooperation with Vietnam, while meeting with new Vietnamese Ambassador to the country Nguyen Manh Cuong.

Dhaka (VNA) – Bangladeshi President Mohammed Shahabuddin has expressed his hope for stronger multi-sectoral cooperation with Vietnam, while meeting with new Vietnamese Ambassador to the country Nguyen Manh Cuong.

At the June 20 meeting, which took place after Cuong presented his credentials, the leader lauded Vietnam’s socio-economic growth and said he hopes that the Southeast Asian nation will facilitate Bangladesh exporting its key products such as textiles, garments, and pharmaceuticals to the market.

Wishing to strengthen Bangladesh’s collaboration with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), he proposed Vietnam play an active role in accelerating the bloc’s process for approving Bangladesh as its sectoral dialogue partner.

In response, Cuong affirmed that Vietnam highly values and wants the relationship it shares with Bangladesh to thrive across fields.

The diplomat pledged his best efforts to fortify the bilateral traditional friendship in the time to come./.
