Ha Giang (VNA) – A delegation from the Party Committee of Wenshan prefecture in China’s Yunnan province led by its Secretary Tong Zhiyun paid a working visit to the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang on May 7-8, aiming to seek more opportunities to enhance bilateral ties.

Welcoming the delegation, Secretary of Ha Giang’s Party Committee Trieu Tai Vinh said that Ha Giang, as the northern gateway of Vietnam, has a borderline of over 270 km with China.

Over the past few years, the relationship between Ha Giang province and Wenshan prefecture has developed in a more comprehensive and practical manner. The two sides opened the Xin Man-Dulong border gate pair, and have ensured sound border management and protection.

Total import-export turnover through the Vietnamese locality’s border gates exceeded 384 million USD in 2018 and reached 77 million USD in the first quarter of this year, Vinh shared.

He expressed his hope that the two sides’ authorities will soon finish procedures to open the Na La path for customs clearance at the Thanh Thuy-Tianbao international border gate pair.

He asked both sides to improve infrastructure and complete legal procedures to attract more enterprises to participate in import-export activities through the Xin Man-Dulong border gate pair; implement a cooperation agreement on synchronous labour management; and strive to develop the Thanh Thuy-Tianbao border gate pair into a bridge connecting Vietnamese and Chinese localities.

For his part, Tong proposed that authorities on both sides step up the upgrade of infrastructure at Xin Man-Dulong and Thanh Thuy-Tianbao border gate pairs.

He suggested the two sides cooperate in developing transport infrastructure, training human resources, and expand collaboration in producing, processing and importing Ha Giang’s agricultural and pharmaceutical products, and create favourable conditions for Wenshan prefecture’s enterprises to do business and investment in Ha Giang. –VNA
