Tokyo (VNA) – The Vietnamese community abroad in general, and in Japan in particular, always has special feelings for President Ho Chi Minh and the homeland, said Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Japan during a recent interview with the Vietnam News Agency's correspondents in Tokyo on the occasion of the 134th birthday of the late leader (May 19, 1890-2024).
Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) abroad, including those living, studying, and working in Japan, always carry a deep love for their homeland, take pride in their origin, continuously seek to introduce the beauty of Vietnamese culture and people to their Japanese friends, and have an unwavering desire to contribute to the development and prosperity of Vietnam, Son stressed.
The Party and State’s policies for OVs play a crucial role in connecting Vietnamese expats, and the Vietnamese community in Japan in particular, with their compatriots in Vietnam, he said.
Son highly appreciated the supportive and encouraging policies for OVs to participate in economic, cultural, and social activities in the homeland, saying that through these efforts, Vietnamese expats in Japan can maintain close bonds with, and contribute to the development of the nation.
He also underlined the importance of creating favourable environment for interaction and cooperation between OVs and citizens in the homeland and having support and protection mechanisms for Vietnamese expats when they return home.
According to Son, the strong community of over 540,000 Vietnamese in Japan has been regularly engaging in cultural, educational, and business exchange programmes in Vietnam, thus strengthening understanding and interaction, and promoting national pride, and solidarity.
Those living far from the homeland still play a crucial role in strengthening and expanding economic, cultural, and social relations between the two countries, he affirmed, noting that Vietnamese experts, intellectuals, and businesses in Japan are actively striving to connect and serve as a crucial bridge for technology transfer, investment, and support for economic development projects in Vietnam./.
