Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is leading a Vietnamese delegation to the ninth Summit on Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Development Triangle Area, slated for November 23 and 24 in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

The visit comes after an invitation from his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

The PM is accompanied by Minister-Chairman of the Government’s Office Mai Tien Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha, Deputy Minister of National Defence Be Xuan Truong, Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Quy Vuong, and deputy head of the Steering Committee for the Central Highlands Nguyen Dieu Kre.

The CLV Development Triangle Area covers four Cambodian provinces (Ratanakiri, Stung Treng, Mondulkiri, and Kratie), four Lao provinces (Attapeu, Salavan, Sekong, and Champasak), and five Vietnamese provinces (Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, and Binh Phuoc).

Since its establishment in 1999, the CLV has proved to be an effective cooperation mechanism among Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. It posts a GDP growth rate of 9-10 percent in 2016, higher than the average growth rate of the nations.

The CLV cooperation mechanism has also affirmed its indispensable role for not only the development triangle area but also the entire territories of the three Indochinese countries.-VNA
