SEA Games set to start in style

The torch will be lit up by Singaporean Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong at a ceremony at Marina Bay on June 4.

The public can catch the SEA Games torch as it makes a 2.5-kilometre journey around Marina Bay, passing iconic landmarks including Clifford Square, Merlion Park, Esplanade Outdoor Theatre and the Art Science Museum. It will finish at Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza.

The torch will then be moved into a safe lantern before continuing the journey to the Sports Hub, a complex located in Kallang. At the national stadium, 13 standout athletes will receive the torch and officially kick off the 28 th SEA Games on June 5.

Taking place from June 5-16, the Games will see about 7,000 athletes from 11 countries and territories in the region compete in 36 sports for 402 sets of medals.-VNA
