Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam Airlines has been certified as a 4-star airline by the UK airline and airport rating organisation Skytrax.

Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted handed over the certification to Vietnam Airlines President and CEO Duong Tri Thanh at the World Airline Awards in London on July 12.

He said “This 4-Star Airline rating is an excellent achievement for Vietnam Airlines and the result of their hard work across a range of product and service areas. Introducing two brand new aircraft types into the fleet in such a short space of time is a difficult task, but the reward for Vietnam Airlines is a fabulous new product in their core long haul market.”

He added that Skytrax recognised the considerable changes and improvements that Vietnam Airlines has achieved from bettering quality services of Business Class to overhauling of cabin staff training, which will help the airline strengthen its position as a 4-star airline.

Vietnam Airlines President and CEO Duong Tri Thanh said the achievement is a significant stride for the airline to realise its goal of becoming one of the best-regarded airlines in Asia-Pacific.

Since 2015, Vietnam Airlines has carried out a number of programmes to improve its service quality according to international 4-star standards.

The airline is upgrading its fleet with the introduction of both Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A350-900 XWB.

With the new certification, Vietnam Airlines is being listed among top global airlines such as Air France, Emirates, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, and Lufthansa.-VNA
