137,000 tonnes of wood chip leave Quang Ngai ports

Quang Ngai-based ports have exported a whopping 137,000 tonnes of wood chip to China and Singapore in just three days of the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) from February 2-5.
Quang Ngai-based ports have exported a whopping 137,000 tonnes of woodchip to China and Singapore in just three days of the traditional LunarNew Year (Tet) from February 2-5.

The local Gemadept-DungQuat international port successfully shipped 60,000 tonnes of theproduct to Singapore, while the Dung Quat port 1 exported 67,000 tonnesof wood chip to China.

This was the first time the two ports have sent abroad such a big volume of wood chip during Tet.

The former strives to ship 1.6 million tonnes of wood chip to China, Japan, the Republic of Korea and Singapore in 2014.

Its wharf is being upgraded to help ships of up to 70,000 DWT land safely.

The wharf is expected to serve as the largest of its kind in thecentral region, welcoming ships serving major projects including theSingaporean Sembcorp’s 1,200 MW thermal power plant.-VNA
