Hanoi (VNA) – The 14th National Assembly discussedthe draft Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on NaturalDisaster Prevention and Control and Dykes Law during an online ninth session inHanoi on May 28.
Presenting a report on collecting feedback onthe draft Law, Chairman of the NA’s Committee on Science, Technology,Environment Phan Xuan Dung said a majority of deputies agree with the need toestablish a fund for disaster prevention and control amid the complicateddevelopments of climate change at present.
Deputy Tran Dinh Gia from Ha Tinh suggestedmilitia forces and mass organisations in localities should perform the task ofdisaster prevention and control in their localities.
Several lawmakers said the establishment ofthe fund is necessary to receive and effectively use international assistance.
