188 billion VND raised for the poor, AO victims

The Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) said it collected more than 188 billion VND in cash and goods during the charity campaign to help the poor and Agent Orange (AO) victims enjoy the Lunar New Year Festival.
The Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) said itcollected more than 188 billion VND in cash and goods during thecharity campaign to help the poor and Agent Orange (AO) victims enjoythe Lunar New Year Festival.

In a report released onMarch 15, VRC said with the donations, its chapters at all levelsprovided aid to a total of 832,260 poor households and families of AOvictims.

Part of the money was used to build houses and buy buffaloes, cows andproduction tools for the beneficiary people, VRC said.

Since the campaign was first launched in 1999, VRC chapters at alllevels across the country raised almost 557 billion VND and supportedmore than 5.1 million of poor households and families of AO victimsduring the Tet festivals./.
