Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly convened a plenary session in Hanoi on April 11 to remove some posts of vice chairmen and members of the National Election Council (NEC) and the Council on National Defence and Security.

Lawmakers voted to approve the list of several vice chairmen and members of the NEC suggested by Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, as well as of the Council on National Defence and Security recommended by President Tran Dai Quang.

The elections were conducted through a secret ballot.

The 11th meeting of the parliament is scheduled to wrap up on April 12 morning.

Deputies will vote to adopt the Resolution on the socio-economic development plan between 2016 and 2020, the Resolution on reviewing the 2011-2016 working tenure of the National Assembly, President, Government Prime Minister, Chief Justice of Supreme People’s Court, Prosecutor General of Supreme People’s Procuracy, and Auditor General of State Audit Office.

The closing session will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television and the Voice of Vietnam.-VNA

452 lawmakers, or 94.56% of the total number of deputies present, voted in favour the revised Law on Corporate Income Tax, while the amended Excise Tax Law was adopted with 448 out of 454 deputies present voting in favour, accounting for 93.72% of the total.
