Hanoi (VNA) – The 2019 International Francophone Day entitled “CouleursFrancophones” (Francophone Colours) will offer a range of interesting activities,heard a press conference on the event held in Hanoi on March 12.

On March15, at a ceremony celebrating the event at the Ly Thai To Statue Square by HoanKiem Lake, the Group of Francophone Embassies, Delegations, and Institutions(GADIF) will present awards to two individuals to honour their contributions tothe language and values of the French-speaking community.

An artsprogramme will be held as part of the ceremony with the participation ofVietnamese and foreign artists, along with students learning French.

In addition,about 60 pavilions will be opened the next day, providing useful informationfor visitors, as well as gastronomic and entertainment activities.

Thoseactivities will be jointly organised by the Hanoi People’s Committee, theInternational Organisation of Francophonie’s (OIF) Asia Pacific RegionalBureau, and the city’s chapter of GADIF.

Meanwhile,in Ho Chi Minh City, a ceremony will be held on March 17 at Thao Cam Vien(Zoological and Botanical Garden), along with the screening of movies in Frenchlanguage and concerts of famous French artist Chaton.

A seminaron the building of an international network of digital hubs for agriculture-biotechnologywill also be arranged in the city.

Furthermore,various cultural activities and festivals will be held at high schools,universities, and French-language clubs across the country this month.

The OIF’s mission is to engage its 88 memberstates and governments, which together represent more than a third of UN memberstates and account for a population of over 900 million people, including about300 million French speakers.

The OIF organises multilateral cooperationpolitical activities and actions that benefit French-speakingpopulations.

Road accident fund to provide support from September

Under Decree No. 279/2025/ND-CP and Circular No. 126/2026/TT-BCA, injured victims with bodily injury rates of over 31% to below 81% may receive up to 10 million VND (381 USD) per case, while families of deceased victims may receive up to 20 million VND.

New resolution seeks to unlock OV resources for national development

Ha Thanh, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations and head of the advisory council for international integration, people-to-people diplomacy and overseas Vietnamese affairs under the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, said Resolution No. 23 builds on the fundamental viewpoints of the Politburo's Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW issued in 2004, reaffirming that overseas Vietnamese are an inseparable part of the nation and a bridge connecting Vietnam with the world.
