2.6 trillion VND invested to enhance southern electricity network

HCM City (VNA) – The Southern Power Corporation of the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN SPC)put into use 19 new 110kVpower lines withcombined investment of 2.63 billion VND (115.8 million USD) in the first halfof the year.

In addition, the corporation started construction of 26 power works.

Nguyen Phuoc Duc, deputy director of the SPC said that the newelectricity lines have helped met power demand for economic development in 21southern localities and ensure electricity supply in the dry season of 2017 inkey economic areas like Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc andLong An provinces.

As of June 20, the corporation had conducted repair of 613 power lines ata cost of 501.1 billion VND (22.1 million USD), of which 262 works have beencompleted.

Investment in building and repairing power lines has contributed toenhance quality of the national grid, ensure stable supply and reduce the lossof electricity.

In the time ahead, in accordance to the Prime Minister’s instruction atthe conference on development of Vietnam’s shrimp sector, the SPC will invest fivetrillion VND (220.05 million USD) in improving electricity supply for shrimpfarming areas.

Besides, it is working on a project to build a 220kV power line to PhuQuoc Island. The construction is expected to start in December 2017.-VNA
