Hanoi (VNA) – A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Gutad town on the Philippines’ Luzon island on April 22 afternoon, with at least two people killed due to house collapse.
The quake shook many buildings in Manila capital city, making thousands of residents and office workers flee to safety.
Head of the Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology Renato Solidum said that the quake, which was caused by movement of a local fault, was not strong enough to trigger a tsunami or cause widespread damage.
However, some officials reported damage to a church in northern Pampanga province and said boulders rolled down a mountain, blocking a highway.
