ADB supports green, sustainable development in Hue

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to support the project “Green city: Sustainable future of Southeast Asia ” in central Thua Thien-Hue province, said Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Cao.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to support the project “Green city: Sustainable future of Southeast Asia ” in central Thua Thien-Hue province, said Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Cao.

The “green city” initiative, covering environmental protection, sustainable economic development and balanced quality of life, will be applied in Thua Thien Hue until 2020 with focus on infrastructure and climate change.

The chairman affirmed that the province will develop green economic sectors, promote the economical and efficient use of energy and natural resources as well as environmentally-friendly lifestyle among its residents.

The ADB has so far sponsored 16 projects worth a total of approximately 123 million USD in Thua Thien Hue in many fields, particularly in environmental and natural resource protection, human resource development, technology transfer and research capacity enhancement.

Presently, the province is implementing several projects supported by the bank, such as the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) biodiversity conservation corridor - phase 2, a sustainable tourism development and a water supply project.-VNA
