- The 15th National Assembly (NA) opened its eighth extraordinary session in Hanoi on August 26 to consider personnel work.
Attending the event are Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, standing member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Luong Cuong, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien, other Party and State leaders, and leaders of centrally-run agencies and localities.Read full story
- President of the Australian Senate Sue Lines visited the KOTO humanitarian vocational training centre in Tien Du district, the northern province of Bac Ninh, on August 26 as part of her official visit to Vietnam.

-Vietnam’s economic growth is expected to pick up in 2024, driven by a rebound in manufactured exports and tourism, and recovering consumption and business investment, the World Bank (WB) said on August 26 in a new report.
The economy is forecast to grow 6.1% in 2024, and 6.5% in both 2025 and 2026, up from 5% last year, according to the bank’s latest bi-annual economic report on the country Taking Stock.Read full story
- The second mock session of the “Children’s National Assembly”, scheduled for September in Hanoi, will see the participation of 307 children, according to the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
Of the total, 297 have been selected from 358 nominees from grassroots organisations and 104 self-nominees, while the remainders have been appointed for their outstanding achievements in various fields.Read full story
- The Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) announced on August 26 that it will send a delegation of 15 Korean companies, specialising in exporting agricultural equipment, to Vietnam from August 26-31 to promote their products.
According to a MAFRA’s report, Vietnam is gradually emerging as an important market for Korean agricultural equipment and materials export, importing 1.02 billion USD worth of those products from the RoK by the end of 2023. Despite experiencing difficulties due to the global economic downturn, fertiliser and pesticide exports showed an upward trend, with export turnover increasing by more than 33% compared to the previous year.Read full story
- The third Namaste Vietnam (Hello Vietnam) Festival opened in Ho Chi Minh City on August 25, which is one of activities to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India (1972-2024).

- The amount of personal information stolen in cyberspace increased by 50% in the first six months of this year compared to the same period in 2023, according to a report on cyber security situation released on August 26 by the Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel).
It said the number of websites impersonating organisations and businesses rose four times in the reviewed period, increasing the number of scams and financial frauds. Read full story
-National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has announced that it will officially launch a direct route between Hanoi and Phnom Penh on October 27, with a schedule of four flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
The route will offer a new option for passengers in addition to the current four between Vietnam and Cambodia, including Ho Chi Minh City - Phnom Penh; Hanoi, and HCM City - Siem Reap, and one trans-Indochina route.
