Hanoi, (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

– President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has lauded Truong Hai Group Corporation (THACO), a multi-industry holding corporation, for its contributions to national economic development.
Addressing a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of THACO in Ho Chi Minh City on December 11, the President expressed his impression on what the corporation has brought about in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone , the central province of Quang Nam.Read full story

- Vietnam always treasures and appreciates the role of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in assisting countries to peacefully settle international disputes by arbitration procedures and international conciliation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has told PCA Secretary General Marcin Czepelak.
At their meeting in The Hague, the Netherlands, on December 11 afternoon (local time), Chinh said that the presence of the PCA in Hanoi through its representative office is of significance, expressing Vietnam's message of support for peace and a world order based on international law and in compliance with the United Nations Charter and international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).Read full story

– The Vietnamese Government commits all possible support to Dutch firms to do business for a long term in Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has stated during meetings with business representatives as part of his official visit to the Netherlands.
At a working session with President of the Confederation of Netherlands’ Industry and Employers (VNO-NCW) Ingrid Thijssen on December 11 (local time), PM Chinh said the Netherlands is now the biggest EU investor in Vietnam, ranking eighth out of 141 countries and territories investing in the country with 409 valid projects worth 13.7 billion USD.Read full story

– Vietnam was among the first to sign the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) in 1982, calling on other countries in the ASEAN region to respect and abide by this document, said Bryon Wilfert, a former MP and a member of the Research Advisory Board at the Canadian-based think tank Macdonald Laurier Institute.
Talking to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Ottawa with regard to the convention’s 40th anniversary, Wilfert said UNCLOS plays an important role in clearly establishing rules for the environment and the management of marine resources.Read full story

– Vietnam has so far earned 361 million USD from exporting poultry meat and eggs to 26 countries worldwide, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) reported.
