- The ASEAN Foreign Ministers (AMM)'s Retreat concluded in Luang Prabang on January 29 with important results obtained and Vietnam’s contributions reflecting its strong and consistent support for the ASEAN Year 2024 chaired by Laos, an official has said.

- The amended Land Law which was passed at the 15th National Assembly’s fifth extraordinary session in mid-January is expected to provide a firm legal framework to enhance land management efficiency and create new momentum for Vietnam to become a high-income country by 2045.
Comprising 16 chapters and 260 articles, the law would solve existing problems in land management and contribute to promoting growth with innovations and breakthroughs in thinking, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha said, emphasising that improving the legal framework for land has been a focus of the Party and the Government. - Vietnam had shipped 15.08 billion USD worth of products overseas as of January 15, a year-on-year increase of 4.1%, the General Statistics Office announced on January 29.
Foreign firms occupied 11.06 billion USD, up 1.9% against the same time last year, while the domestic sector made up 4.02 billion USD of the total, a year-on-year rise of 10.4%. Read full story
- Vietnam saw a year-on-year rise of 3.37% in January’s consumer price index (CPI), according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

- In order to achieve the target of 6% rise in exports this year, exporters are advised to maintain major markets such as the US, the EU, Japan, the Republic of Korea and China.

- The number of new enterprises and those resuming their operation this month reached 27,335, up 5.5% year-on-year, and more than 1.3 times higher than the average figure in the 2018-2023 period, statistics show.
According to the Business Registration Management Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, 13,536 firms were established in January, a rise of 24.8% from the same period last year, the highest ever recorded for the first month of each year. They added 151.45 trillion VND (6.16 billion USD) to the national economy, a year-on-year increase of 52.8%./. Read full story
