– President To Lam attended a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on July 1 to make the debut of the security and order protection force at the grassroots level.

The force, established by local authorities on a voluntary basis of people, comprises part-time communal public security personnel, guards of residential areas, and wardens.Read full story

– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the Vietnam – Republic of Korea (RoK) Labour Cooperation Forum in Seoul on July 1 within the framework of his official visit to the East Asian country to seek ways to improve the quality of bilateral collaboration in the labour field.

At the forum, delegates assessed that over the past 30 years, bilateral cooperation has achieved remarkable development, including in labour, employment and social security. – Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, who is accompanying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on an official visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK), has had a working session with the Vietnam Innovation Network in Korea (VINK).

– A delegation of the Party Committee of Central Agencies' Bloc led by its secretary Nguyen Van The had working sessions with the Communist Party USA and Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN) and other representative agencies in New York from June 27-29, within the framework of the delegation’s visit to US.

At the working session with the Communist Party USA on June 28, The, who is also member of the Communist Party of Vietnam's Central Committee, thanked the US side for its support to Vietnam during its struggles for national independence and reunification, in overcoming the consequences of war and promoting the process of normalising and developing the Vietnam-US relations.Read full story

– Vietnam exported 4.68 million tonnes of rice in the first six months of this year, earning 2.98 billion USD, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

– Vietnam's economy is experiencing a surge, fueled by strong export and industrial production, according to a series of reports from international organisations.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expressed optimism in its 2024 Article IV consultation with Vietnam. Its head Paulo Medas predicted a nearly 6% growth for the Vietnamese economy in 2024, supported by robust external demand, stable foreign direct investment (FDI), and recent policy adjustments. Inflation is expected to stay within the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV)'s target range of 4-4.5% this year.Read full story/.

Senior military officer inspects martyrs’ remains search at Le Thị Rieng Park

Nghia described the ongoing 500-day campaign as a sacred mission that embodies the Vietnamese tradition of remembering those who served and sacrificed for the nation. The current generation, he said, must spare no effort in carrying out the Party’s policy and fulfilling the aspirations of the people, particularly the families of the fallen.

PM calls for building elite, professional international search and rescue force

During its mission from June 29 to July 7, the team worked around the clock under extremely hazardous conditions amid heavily damaged and contaminated disaster zones. Despite the challenges, rescue personnel recovered 57 victims' bodies and handed them over to local authorities and families. They also identified and reported several suspected locations where additional victims might be trapped.

📝 OP-ED: Respect for history, gratitude a lasting cultural value of Vietnamese people

In Vietnamese cultural life, gratitude toward preceding generations has long been preserved as an integral part of the nation's identity. This tradition is reflected in ancestor worship practiced in families, the Worship of the Hung Kings, village deities, national heroes and eminent cultural figures, as well as tributes to generations who sacrificed their lives for the nation's independence and freedom.

Border community twinning strengthens Vietnam–Laos friendship
