- Economic cooperation should continue to be the focus of bilateral ties between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea, National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai said at his talks with Deputy Assembly Speaker of the RoK Chung Woo-taik in Seoul on March 20. Read full story

- Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Nguyen Hoa Binh and Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long cleared up questions regarding asset recovery in corruption cases, at a Q&A session in Hanoi on March 20 as part of the 21st meeting of the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee. He admitted that the work has yet to be done strictly although 40% of the assets were recovered over the past decade. Read full story

- Vietnam is striving to lure more Japanese investments to digital transformation and green growth, as recommended in the Vietnam-Japan Joint Initiative (VJI). Phase VIII of the initiative, launched in 2003, concluded in March 2023, under which 497 out of the 597 items were completed. Read full story

- The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has been assigned to coordinate with related ministries to devise and propose policies and measures for attracting international financial funds and capital sources to public - private partnership (PPP) projects in Vietnam. This is among the tasks set by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha with regard to PPP investment activities, according to the Government Office. Read full story

- Vietnam’s industrial real estate sector has great potential for developing more projects related to data centres, cold storages and logistics, according to John Campbell, Associate Director, Head of Industrial Services at Savills Vietnam - the largest and most experienced real estate services company in the Southeast Asian nation. Main opportunities in the logistics industry include last-mile logistics services and the implementation of a logistics 4.0 system, said Campbell. Read full story

- The first batch of 20 tonnes of fresh sugarcane from Hoa Binh bound for the US was announced at a ceremony held in the northern mountainous province on March 19. Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Con Su said the province will seek ways to boost sugarcane exports, contributing to the development of sugar industry in the locality. - Task forces in the northern port city of Hai Phong seized about 7 tonnes of tusks hidden in a container arriving at Nam Dinh Vu Port from Africa on March 20, according to the General Department of Customs. This is the largest ever seizure of smuggled tusks in Hai Phong, the agency said, adding that the case is under further investigation. Read full story

- The Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera has announced a Sergei Rachmaninov music night will take place on March 26 at the city’s Opera House to mark the 150th birthday of the Russian famous romantic composer (1873 - 2023). The guest artist this time is pianist Nguyen Viet Trung who will return from Poland. Trung and the city’s orchestra will perform under the baton of Meritorious Artist Tran Vuong Thach.
