Airports busy on National Day holiday

The National Day holiday saw an estimated 763,000 people passing through airports across the country during August 31-September 3, equal to 98% of the figure in the same period last year.

Hanoi (VNA) – The National Day holiday saw an estimated 763,000 people passing through airports across the country during August 31-September 3, equal to 98% of the figure in the same period last year.

Of the total figure, there were more than 406,500 foreigners, a year-on-year increase of 14.5%, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam. Meanwhile, the number of domestic passengers dropped by 15.6% to over 356,500. Air cargo transport rose 11% to some 13,000 tonnes.

More than 2,700 flights were operated by Vietnamese airlines during the four-day holiday. They transported over 531,000 passengers, and more than 4,300 tonnes of cargoes, down 12% and up 17.8% year-on-year, respectively.

Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City hosted some 2,500 departures and arrivals that carried around 407,000 passengers, and 5,300 tonnes of freight, while the number at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi was approximately 2,000 with 407,000 passengers and roughly 5,300 tonnes of cargoes.

In the meantime, over 111,000 passengers and 333 tonnes of cargoes passed through Da Nang International Airport in Da Nang tourist city during the holiday./.
