The Algerian National People’s Assembly Chairman, Abdelaziz Ziari, left Ho Chi Minh City on Jan. 23, wrapping up his week-long visit to Vietnam.
During the trip, Ziari held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Phu Trong, paid a courtesy visit to State President Nguyen Minh Triet, and met with Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung.
The Algerian leader also had working sessions with Construction Minister Nguyen Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam-Algeria Joint Committee; and Chairwomen of the Hanoi People’s Council Ngo Thi Doan Thanh and the HCM City People’s Council Pham Phuong Thao.
At these meetings, the two sides affirmed the need to step up multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Algeria, especially in economy, trade, and investment, to match potentials and benefits of both nations.
They agreed to increase exchanges, cooperation and sharing of development experiences between the two countries and parliaments, as well as to tighten coordination at multilateral forums.
Chairman Ziari and his entourage also laid a wreath in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum, and visited a number of economic, cultural and educational establishments in Hanoi, the northern port city of Hai Phong, the northeastern province of Quang Ninh, and HCM City./.
