Ambassador calls for Czech parliamentarians’ support for EVFTA

Prague(VNA) - Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Ho Minh Tuan has called onhost parliamentarians to urge their legislature and that of Europe to soon ratifythe EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) so as to bring practical benefits toall sides.

At a recent receptionfor a delegation of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, thediplomat said the support by the parliamentarians will help enhance thefriendship between the two countries in various fields, including economy,trade, investment, labour and vocational training.

He highlighted thefruitful development of the relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic andthe two legislative bodies in recent years, especially following visits andmeetings between senior leaders of the two countries in 2017.

The visit toVietnam by a delegation of the Chamber of Deputies’ Committee of Science,Education, Culture, Youth and Sports last June helped opened up new cooperationopportunities for the two countries in vocational training, education andtourism, he said.

In reply, FirstVice Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies Vojtech Filip affirmed the chamber’ssupport for stronger bilateral cooperation, adding that Czech lawmakers haveexpressed their backing for the EVFTA.

The two sides alsodiscussed specific measures to boost bilateral cooperation, including sendingVietnamese workers to the Czech Republic and the exchange of students betweenmedical schools.

The Czechparliamentarians pledged they will do their best to remove bottlenecks inbilateral collaboration.-VNA
