Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnamese Embassy in Denmark, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, held a ceremony on September 12 to celebrate the 79th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).

In his speech, Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi highlighted the significance of the National Day and the goal of building a powerful Vietnam with rich people and democratic, equal, and civilised society. Over the past 79 years, the Vietnamese people have united to overcome many difficulties and challenges, fought for national independence and reunification, and Vietnam has become one of the 40 largest economies in the world after nearly 40 years implementing the Doi moi (renewal) process, he said.

Regarding bilateral relations, Nghi reviewed milestones in the Vietnam-Denmark relationship, particularly the rapid development steps since the establishment of a comprehensive partnership in 2013 and its recent elevation to a green strategic partnership last year. Both sides have actively exchanged delegations at all levels and effectively cooperated in areas such as energy, environment, agriculture, health care, education and training, statistics, culture, science, and people-to-people exchanges, he noted.

Trade and investment ties between the two countries have seen strong growth, especially in green transition, sustainable development, and high-quality projects.

Vietnam will work closely with Denmark and member countries to successfully organise the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 Summit in Vietnam in April 2025, the ambassador said.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong emphasised that cultural cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark is a bright spot in their relations. He praised Denmark’s valuable support in developing and implementing national strategies for cultural development in general and creative industries in particular, which helps boost Vietnam’s efforts to place creative culture at the centre of sustainable development. He affirmed that despite the geographical distance between Vietnam and Denmark, culture and art are powerful connections and always find unique ways to bring the two countries closer together.

Earlier, Cuong and Nghi cut the ribbon to open an exhibition themed "Colours of Vietnamese Culture" which showcases Vietnamese culture, life, and people through artistic photos and traditional handicraft products, contributing to further strengthening the friendly relations in general and cultural and art cooperation between the two countries in particular./.
