Newly-accredited Vietnamese Ambassador to Lithuania Pham Kien Thiet has said he will exert his greatest effort to deepen the relations between the two countries, particularly in economics, trade, tourism and education.
The diplomat made the pledge when he presented his credentials to Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite on April 9.
President Grybauskaite congratulated Vietnam on its accomplishments while voicing her pleasure at the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
The host affirmed that Lithuanian agencies are willing to assist the ambassador to carry out his mission.
Economic relations between Vietnam and Lithuania remain modest with two-trade trade turnover standing at 50 million USD in 2013. Lithuania has not invested in Vietnam so far.
The two countries are negotiating a double-taxation avoidance agreement and another on visa exemption for diplomatic passport holders.-VNA
