Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Cuong has paid a working visit to Pittsburg city in Pennsylvania State, to boost economic and education cooperation between Vietnam and the US state.
During the Oct. 5-7 visit, Ambassador Cuong held working sessions with leaders of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the University of Pittsburg and the Chatham University.
The diplomat briefed the host of Vietnam’s integration policy, its socio-economic achievements and potentials.
Pennsylvania authorities expressed their keen interest in exploring investment opportunities and business cooperation in Vietnam, one of five emerging markets President Barack Obama put into a priority list for cooperation so as to double US exports in 2015.
The officials said they will send a business delegation to explore Vietnam’s market next year. In Feb. 2009, a delegation of Pittsburg leaders and businesses visited Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, central coastal Da Nang city and other big cities of Vietnam to seek investment cooperation opportunities.
Meanwhile, the Chatham University’s managing board said the university will send a group of students to Vietnam in May 2012 to explore the country’s history, culture, customs and traditions./.
