Ancient Hue city introduces bicycle lanes

Recently, residents and tourists in Hue have been delighted to see green lanes on the sidewalks of some city streets. These green lanes are the first dedicated bicycle lanes on sidewalks in Vietnam. The project is led by Thua Thien-Hue province's Department of Planning and Investment.

In Hue City, these green bicycle lanes are being implemented on Vo Nguyen Giap, To Huu streets, and the central administrative area of Thua Thien-Hue, with plans to expand further in the future. For streets with heavy traffic, having dedicated bicycle lanes is particularly meaningful for the locals.

The green lanes, bordered with yellow, are 1.45 meters wide on a 6-meter sidewalk. On 11-meter wide sidewalks, two bicycle lanes are arranged. These green lanes are mainly concentrated in the new An Van Duong urban area, totaling nearly 8 km. The purpose is to ensure safety for cyclists, encourage people to cycle and improve and expand ancient Hue city's transportation network.

In recent years, the central province of Thua Thien-Hue has invested significant resources in developing green transportation, encouraging residents and tourists to use bicycles. Allocating part of the sidewalks for bicycles will contribute to the local commitment to transforming Thua Thien-Hue into a green, environmentally friendly city./.
